The Impossible Photo 1229

UPDATE

I am prepared to acknowledge that, given the gate design, they could have passed through different gates in exact synchronicity and this may be a red herring. I am leaving this post up here as it is good to acknowledge mistakes. Please read my updated post Skripals – The Mystery Deepens

Russia has developed an astonishing new technology enabling its secret agents to occupy precisely the same space at precisely the same time.

These CCTV images released by Scotland yard today allegedly show Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov both occupying exactly the same space at Gatwick airport at precisely the same second. 16.22.43 on 2 March 2018. Note neither photo shows the other following less than a second behind.

There is no physically possible explanation for this. You can see ten yards behind each of them, and neither has anybody behind for at least ten yards. Yet they were both photographed in the same spot at the same second.

The only possible explanations are:
1) One of the two is travelling faster than Usain Bolt can sprint
2) Scotland Yard has issued doctored CCTV images/timeline.

I am going with the Met issuing doctored images.

UPDATE

A number of people have pointed out a third logical possibility, that the photographs are not of the same place and they are coming through different though completely identical entry channels. The problem with that is the extreme synchronicity. You can see from the photos that the channel(s) are enclosed and quite long, and they would have had to enter different entrances to the channels. So it is remarkable they were at exactly the same point at the same time. Especially as one of them appears to be holding (wheeled?) luggage and one has only a shoulder bag.
I have traveled through Gatwick many times but cannot call to mind precisely where they are. Can anybody pinpoint the precise place in the airport? Before or after passport control? Before or after baggage collection? Before or after customs? The only part of the airport this looks like to me is shortly after leaving the plane after the bridge, and before joining the main gangway to passport control – in which case passengers are not split into separated channels at the stage this was taken. I can’t recall any close corridors as long as this after passport control. But I am open to correction.

Interesting as this PAST Passport control.

Meaning the timing is even more coincidental….

      1. If they were travelling as a pair and processed at the same point, these images would be impossible.

      2. If they were processed separately, the timing must be precise to within 1s !!!

      • mog

Or they manipulated the photo time stamps in order to promote discussion about the ‘anomaly of synchronicity’…?

    • Anton P

Ah! Now I remember where this is. This is when you actually enter the terminal after the passport control and the baggage reclaim area. I am now beginning to think that if two people are walking together and take different corridors, being in the same spot at the exact same time is very likely. These corridors are quite short too.

Yep, good idea getting google images.
The red signs would account for the red in bottom right of the Police pictures.
But that still doesn’t explain why more people aren’t in the pics; in the google pics, there are six people visible, and all coming through the same corridor, with no one using the other two.
But most people are averse to queuing, so why would people line up for the same corridor, if the other two were open?
If the ‘alleged suspects’ were travelling together, why would they use different corridors? So as not to be seen together in the airport is possible, I suppose.
Someone put this OffGuardian link up before – https://off-guardian.org/2018/09/05/skripal-case-suspects-named-questions-raised/
Now in those pictures, the lighting and angles seem to be the same – how is that, when the police pics have different lighting?
I wonder where the OffGuardian got those pics from?
And why no pics of them at Heathrow?

The police have ‘form’ for video-pokery:
      ‘J7 7/7 CCTV ‘Evidence’ Analysis’:
      http://www.julyseventh.co.uk/7-7-cctv-evidence.html

Then there are all the other ‘terrorist’ events where expected CCTV is never produced, or ‘wasn’t working’, or shows a battered and stabbed man, lying prone on the ground, suddenly leap up and leg it after a police car (parked without the handbrake on) starts rolling towards him (London Bridge/Borough Market), and also cops changing into ‘camo’ casuals in same incident, behind a police van.
The latter was filmed by a cameraman, not CCTV, and I don’t believe it was part of the ‘plan’.

Back to the latest alleged suspects, the Russians have offered to assist, but once again, HMG won’t allow it.
But Aeroflot will have it’s own security, and Moscow will have excellent CCTV and passport control, so they should be able to identify if these two actually did fly out of and back to Moscow (even if they had double passports, they could check their records and establish who they really were).

They are extremely competent in Moscow airport; they even managed to find me (in the bar!) because the plane was due to depart, and I wasn’t on it. And not by a Tannoy anouncement, but they actually sent someone to seek me out.

Long soulless corridors in airports are commonplace. Its easy to get disoriented in airports because parts of them are identical You’ve already been proved wrong once today. Move on.

    • giyane

      Rob

Craig was asking for alternative ideas. 2 main ideas have been put forward, 1/ different corridors 2/ synchronous walking.

The problem is that nobody believes that Russia had any hand in any of this.
Our own security services created a Hollywood movie to incriminate Russia, and nobody in the UK or the rest of world believes a word of the story they have made.
The arabs say of the British” Ikthib, ikthib, ikthib, hattaa tusaddiqoon
Lie lie and lie again until you convince them you are telling the truth.
Nobody believes the British. It’s time for the British to “move on”.

      • MaryPaul

I can believe it was Russia they had means and opportunity, I am struggling with motive. The “agentaps” certainly stayed in a run down hotel in East London at that time, unless the hotel owner is lying which I doubt. And presumably flew in and out on the days concerned and were picked up on CCTV in Salisbury and near Skripals house. Of ourselves it could all invented by the Met Police and noone is less trustful of them than me, but even so….maybe Russia can identify them and tell us why they were in Salisbury? Hello trolls…..

  • menechem golani

so what if they where taken in the same building and time tunnel at the exact same
what is impotent is that we need to bring back national servicing in the uk.
we great british bulldogs must fight the russian menisis before they attack us when we are weak and alone after brexit is.
if we act quick with the dunkirk spirit we can stop them in idlib now

I’m actually in awe of Craig for coming up with this li’l beauty, it’s gobsmackingly awesome. The Indy is currently allowing comments on this article: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/theresa-may-salisbury-novichock-attack-russia-campaign-spy-a8524716.html
Be very careful how you word any comments, the mods are in super sensitive/hyperactive mode. Wonder if i’d get away with posting a link to this article? I’ve got away with this comment so far:

*May vows to wage international campaign against Russian spy agency behind novichok attack*

Seriously concerned May is moving to sweeping statements which are completely unproven so far. The evidence produced is worth looking at, pretty flimsy atm tho, the only actual proof involving Russia at all, being they used Russian passports.

Apparently they’re names are likely to be aliases, we don’t know who they are or anything about them, let alone them having links to the Russian State/Intelligence etc.

I’m not saying there ain’t anything in the evidence at all, what’s been produced is far from enough to warrant May’s sweeping statements, which seem to be just wishful thinking so far.

    • Martin Henning

May made sweeping statements without any evidence almost as soon as it happened. There is an agenda here. Why take this questionable evidence as fact> Not sure I’m convinced.

  • Peter Taylor

Great that you question everything, but becoming a bit desperate to be honest. No matter what was shown, you so want to be right it , you’d still swear black was white!

  • Craig Cretin Murray

‘It’s two different corridors side by side, next time I’m at Gatwick I’ll take a photo’

  • Pete

    1. Why not travel on non-Russian passports? Surely the Russian state can procure or fake another nation’s passport?

    2. Why not travel to the UK via a third country? Makes it harder to track them back to Russia

    3. Why not commit the crime, or case the house, during the night, making them harder to identify? Why even no attempt at disguise?

    4. Why dispose of the poison bottle in such a sloppy manner? Surely a drain or local river would have been more effective than leaving it lying in the grass somewhere?

    5. Why even use nerve agent in the first place, putting the assassins themselves at risk? Surely highly trained assassins could have used a knife or even their bare hands to do the job properly?

    • LittleBat

Good questions, Pete. Covert agents never travel on their own nation’s passports. Real Russian agents would come into Britain, as the Israelis did into Dubai (for that hit on the Hamas guy, which the international community considers quite acceptable), as Canadians, Swedes … anything but Russian. The question of why use such a flamboyant method also relates to the Litvenenko death. Litvenenko could have been knifed in an alleyway, or be the victim of a hit and run – one may feel suspicious, but what could one prove? All these stories are made for television.

      • MaryPaul

It should then be simple for Russia to produce these guys and prove they were never in the UK or Salisbury at the time ( as they appear to be on the CCTV footage) which would make the UK look really foolish, or show they were but had a legitimate reason being there, ditto.

What does anyone think about the fake Nina Ricci perfume (in what looks like a soap dispenser )found by Charlie Rowley? Found we are told, 4 months later apparently in a skip behind the shopping centre?

  • Ian Hilpus

There are a few problems with the photos! 1, Obviously the time 2, It’s the same corridor and you can see clearly near to the top of the swing gate on the left the wall patternation is identical. 3, The angle of the camera is different from one photo to the next… I think these photos are not real but made up of actors in the same location and handheld camera as the angle difference and position of the lens.

  • What's going on?

This is such an obvious trip up to make with these photos. As I said earlier, are they wanting us to doubt the official narrative about this?

  • A

Doesn’t the “Pause” indicate the point in the tape, not the real time of the event? In which case no reason it would not be identical.

  • Goose

Why send two tough looking assassins to self-incriminate Russia, by using a highly dangerous, but ineffective method, guaranteed to be traced back to Russia bringing international opprobrium in the run-up to a hugely costly World Cup? And all in a failed attempt kill a fragile old guy like Skripal, who’d probably die of fright if you said boo?

And why do it all in broad daylight without so much as a concern cctv, then dispose of the substance so carelessly, where it will sit for months before being found intact?

Either the GRU are the most incompetent outfit on earth, or this is senseless.

    • Goose

May said the GRU were “highly disciplined”, professional outfit.

Why open a box , why reseal a box ? Why leave evidence and be so unconcerned about CCTV?

  • Ian

Re your update: i don’t think it is ‘remarkable synchronicity’ if they entered two adjacent channels at the same time. whatever, it is a bit of a red herring – surely there are far more interesting gaps and unexplained events in the supposed timeline – as pointed out many other blogs.
in particular the whole hypothesis about the doorknob poison and the hours which elapsed before they were stricken, by this apparently deadly substance, the disposal of the ‘other’ perfume spray and its location, etc

  • Micky Bee

And why is there no one else behind either of them in either photo, very unlikely scenario. Are we to understand they just happened to be the last people off the flight, in two separate channels!

  • Anton P

I’ve now realised where these corridors are! This is when you enter the terminal after the baggage reclaim area. These are also quite short. So if two people are walking together and go through different corridors, being out of sync would probably be harder than in sync. I no longer find the date stamp to be suspicious.

    • Dungroanin

Scientifically proveable by releasing blurred footage of all the other passengers disembarking with timestamps.

      Just saying…

      • Anton P

I think the confusion to begin with was that people thought they were leaving the plane. I now think these are legit.

    • Dungroanin

It didn’t take long did it? All their plays fail to survive first contact! JC said something like that PMQ’s I recall.

Thanks for the forensics. More please.

  • John2o2o

A large number of people seem to have noticed that one photo is at an angle.

This effect can easily be achieved using photo manipulation software and could conceivably have been done in order to create the impression that the locations were different.

The rotation of the photograph does not prove anything.

  • Suzan Gittens

Mr. Murray, it must feel good when your devotion to this subject pays off. @impossiblephoto

  • Ewan

Both images look like photos taken of a computer screen. The top one shows the screen border as it’s taken at an angle – check the vertical line in the corridor.Text which lines up perfectly with the frames on both images has been added afterwards. Text could be to indicate a time but has been styled to imply its from the timecode on the recording. Looks like both images were taken within seconds or at least at a similar time. These guys probably walked in one after the other. Either way, the timestamp is added afterwards in a font to imply it was part of the recording.

  • Veronica

I think if was an genuine mission from Russia to assassinate- the target’s would be dead -not living in Canada as alleged

  • Tony Price

Presumably there were other passengers on the plane. It is equally remarkable that in both shots there is no evidence of other passengers following behind the two people photographed. Surely these photos if genuine could only have been taken at passport control for this very reason.

    • Yeah, Right

I thought that too: maybe the overlay is from the Police video player they used to review the footage, not from the camera itself.

If so then they were on the job pretty damn quick because the Skripal’s hadn’t been poisoned yet.

  • Yeah, Right

If those are two different but identical gates then shouldn’t the cameras be set up with a third line of text indicating which is where?

You know: “Gt4aWest” to distinguish between that and “Gt6cWest”.

Could you imagine those videos in court?
Defence: What are we looking at, Inspector?
Insp Plod: That is the accused walking through the disembarkation gate.
    Defence: Which gate, Inspector?
    Insp Plod: Pardon?
Deference: You heard me. Which gate?
Insp Plod: Umm, Err, I don’t know, they all look the same to me.

  • Pierssy

If you look at the edge of the framing they are different and my guess is these are fixed cameras, so the different channels explanation looks a likely candidate, although I would love to believe there was a photoshop cock up.

  • david

Channel 4 new tonight decided to bolt the stable door and replace the orginal time stamps with their own when showing the 2 pictures. Th C4 ones had no seconds only hours and minutes.

Still think it was 2 different cameras and corridors though, see the small shadow behind only one of the last number 8s .
