Selective Indignation 262

For his first nine years as Prime Minister, Tony Blair appointed NO women to any of the “Great offices of state” over which Corbyn is under such concerted media fire. And he had many less women in his shadow cabinet and cabinet. Yet there was virtually no media comment at all, and none of this line of right wing “feminists” lambasting him.

Explain.

Not surprised the media attack dogs pounced on Corbyn over women in his cabinet. If not that then something else. Frankly it shows how little they have to attack him that something as minor as this got talked up into a big story.

Perhaps with hindsight he could have handled the PR better but they’d still have got him for something.

“The war criminals wearing their smooth tailor made suits and coats bow with great solemnity as they lay their wreaths. Hypocrites.”

I don’t quite see how wearing a suit and bowing solemnly at the Cenotaph makes a politician a hypocrite.

Could you tease out that thought of yours for us?

“Jeremy Corbyn as Labour Leader, who espouses policies which are a realistic alternative to the neoliberal dogma is seen as a threat to the Establishment.”
    ________________

There’s probably a word for this kind of rhetorical trickery but I can’t remember what it is.

Your proposition is only valid if Mr Corbyn’s proposals are in fact realistic.

“The city pundits on the news channels seem rather miffed that the stock exchange has not crashed on the news of the election result.”

For once I agree with Mary.

They are showing the same sort of miffed-ness as certain Eminences have shown on here when, for instance, there is a lull in the fighting in eastern Ukraine or when a nuclear deal with Iran is arrived at.

Those are wise words, Craig and it was good to hear you spell it out clearly. I hope certain commenters will take to heart what you say, even if doing so means they will feel obliges to “comment” less and with greater restraint.

That’s a very revealing comment, RoS.

I don’t even spend a lot of my time in the UK but I’ve known that for many years. You, on the other hand, probably spend all of your time in the UK.

I’m often amazed when people on here confess that they didn’t know this or that – I’m referring to bits of information on UK politics which many would regard as elementary information.

Given this degree of “not-knowing”, I am astonished that you and many others feel so at ease pontificating confidently and frequently on all manner of topics, including foreign policy topics about which it is reasonable to assume that you know even less than you do about UK affairs.

    +++++++++++++++++++

By the way, Angela Eagle was a junior minister under Labour. One must hope that Maria is less of a Blairite, eh what?

Did you Have to rub your i’m a fucking cunt in my face you fucking abhorrent excuse for a human being, go fuck yourself with your authoritarian ungraceful degrading attitude wrapped up in slimy political bile. .

You NO different than them, EXACT same example you set…It’s you and your political class that’s 99.9% the problems face and nothing fucking changes because it’s embed in you nut.

Now go apply some ‘selective indignation’ and ‘moderate’ away….hypocrite..

I do hope your happy you got what you obviously want, i’d be degrading myself to support this blog, but the chances of me “getting my own” (though i’d never act as obviously inhuman as you) is 0.. , Look what even the smallest totalitarian structure does to people. Your own little fiefdom because you obviously too messed up to join anyone else’s.

“If your primary reason for coming here is to expound your own views, then you would be better advised to get your own blog. I am sorry if you find that insulting. It seems to me like pretty straightforward advice.”

    Again, very well said, Craig.

But if most of the Excellences were to take your words to heart, there would be quite a few new blogs starting up and the number of regular commenters on here would fall dramatically.

    ++++++++++++++++

I note by the way that people like Mr Goss, who is on here primarily to air his pro-Putin and anti-West views (I am being polite), actually has his own blog. The problem ois that no one who reads it is interested enough to comment. So your advice, Craig, might not in fact do the trick.

Many on here are free-loading on your reputation and high profile.

    Ishmael,

Why do you have no chance of getting your own blog? It really is very easy and very cheap. You are quite welcome to post here, as is anybody. But you will have to accept I shall take the mickey if you say things like I should not post a new article because you had just commented on the old one.

  • Ishmael

And just what make you think someone who does that things you have done is any kind of example people should expose themselves to.

Because it not about your “insider” “status” that speaks, or your opinions, it’s your fucking actions and embedded attitudes, of a cunt.

Meh what’s the point, lost cause. follow along now minions. maybe you’ll have your own someday…

About a year and a half ago I heard Ali speak at a location which i shall not disclose.

I also heard him speak when he ws up at Oxford many years ago.

He was still recognisable – older of course, a little stouter, and looking in good health and cheerful.

As recognisable was his discourse, which has not changed in four decades. The man is a gramaphone record. A superior version of Mr Goss, one might say, except that Mr Goss is a 45rpm whereas Tariq is an LP.

Mary 14 Sep, 2015 – 4:08 pm : ….. the Sky News presenter, Kay Burley, continued by reporting the change of Australian PM, except she called Turnbull the new prime minister of Israel! She quickly apologized for the mistake and went on to describe Turnbull’s Goldman Sachs connections.

Maybe this is where the tide turned in favour of Turnbull, the new prime minister of Israel Australia. In the aftermath of yet another slaughter of innocent Palestinians, both emphasised Israel’s right to defend itself, but Abbot was a teensy bit critical of Israel whilst Turnbull voiced concerns for Israel’s continued existence.

Message received and understood, Mr Turnbull.

With Israel facing strong condemnation overnight over accusations that it bombed a UN shelter, killing 15 sleeping women and children, the Australian prime minister was asked on Melbourne radio 3AW whether it was time for Israel to back off. [ …… ]

Abbott said the Australian government supported Palestinian statehood but that support had to go “hand in hand” with the recognition of Israel’s right to secure its borders. Australia, he said, supported Israel’s right to exist and its “right to self-defence”.

He suggested the Israeli government’s decision-making was not flawless, but contended that seemingly intractable opposition to the state of Israel was the source of the tension and conflict. “The problem in the Middle East is that in the end so many people are not prepared to accept Israel’s right to exist.”

The communications minister, Malcolm Turnbull, also mounted a pro-Israel argument during a separate ABC radio interview.

Turnbull said he was not comfortable with the current conflict, but he argued Israel had no choice but to repel attacks in its territory. “Israel risks extinction, Israel faces an existential threat every day. Israel … can barely afford to lose a battle let alone a war,” the communications minister said.

“The battle, the problems between Palestinians and Israel, are immense and complex, but right here and now the fundamental issue that Israel faces is its fights to defend the safety of its people,” Turnbull said on Thursday.

“As long as Hamas is firing rockets into Israel, the Israeli defence force has to defend its own population. I mean, that’s what we’d expect the Australian army to do for us.”

Ishmael – shut up and sit down, there’s a good fellow. Nobody’s forcing you to be here, and I (for one) wouldn’t miss your profane attacks on the host. If you have something you think is worth saying, and this blog’s direction offends you so much, you can set up your own for free.

Your position here – moaning about everything and everyone, embarrassing yourself and attacking the blog-host, makes no sense whatsoever.

  • Ishmael

Glenn_ Just because you said so NO..

No i’m sure you won’t miss some honesty about Craig’a sometimes awful actions, that it took ages to even register as wrong among posters here before it was removed…

There is something very wrong with most of you that’s clear. and i’m no saint.

Embarrass myself? I don’t think so Jack boot Glenn.

  • Republicofscotland

Fedup, Glenn……Oh please give me a break, the stories were already in the national press, I drew attention to them to show the absurdity of them, and now there’s much wailing and gnashing of teeth.

As for the BMW donkey, have neither of you encountered political satire?

Both of you better get used to it, if this is how you react after a couple of days, that Corbyn has been in power as Labour leader, you won’t last the course.

Jeremy Corbyn is in for a tough time, from within his party the press and media will also keep giving him a tough time….that’s politics.

Jeez, Alex Salmond suffered a hell of a lot worse than Corbyn and for two and a half years the media and press gave him nothing but grief, even Obama spoke out against his cause prompted by David Cameron. Yet at that time many considered Salmond as the best politician in Britain.

Lets see if Corbyn can live up to that, lets see if he can handle the pressure, as good as Salmond.

The cold blooded monsters at Westminster, are to redifine child poverty.

THE Scottish Government has received strong support from charities and anti-poverty campaigners for its firm stance against the Westminster Government’s decision to re-define child poverty and weaken attempts to tackle the problem.

Social Justice Secretary Alex Neil has told the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions Ian Duncan Smith that Scotland will not support legal changes to the definition of child poverty as they would exclude working poor households.

The proposals in the Welfare Reform and Work Bill, which starts its committee stage on Thursday, mean the UK Government will no longer be bound by statutory targets to reduce the number of children in poverty.

  • Republicofscotland

They just can’t leave this hero alone.

Today’s court decision to keep Israeli nuclear whistle-blower Mordechai Vanunu under house arrest for giving a media interview is vindictive and heavy-handed, Amnesty International said.

The Jerusalem district court turned down his appeal against a week of house arrest imposed yesterday in connection with an interview he gave to Israeli broadcaster Channel 2 on 4 September. The sentence also prohibits him from using the internet or speaking to any journalists.

Vanunu previously spent 18 years in prison, including 11 years in solitary confinement, for revealing details of Israel’s nuclear arsenal to the British newspaper The Sunday Times in 1986. Following that disclosure, agents from Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad abducted him in Italy and held him in prolonged secret detention.

Though Mordechai Vanunu was released in 2004 after serving his sentence, his ordeal continues today. He remains subjected to military orders that impose punitive and unnecessary restrictions, including bans on foreign travel or going near foreign embassies, as well as restrictions on his internet use and communication with foreigners.

But, until his arrest this week, he had not been barred from speaking to Israeli journalists. Vanunu’s lawyers say that he did not breach his release conditions – the interview was given prior approval by an Israeli military censor.

They’ll just use any excuse and will make up some – they have made up some – if there’d been no bald people, they’ve have gone for that. They don’t give a damn about women, or men, or children. Their policies are impoverishing millions of women, and their wars are killing hundreds of thousands of women. They are not feminists, they are mass murderers and propagandists for mass murderers.
