I have watched incredulous as the CIA’s blatant lie has grown and grown as a media story – blatant because the CIA has made no attempt whatsoever to substantiate it. There is no Russian involvement in the leaks of emails showing Clinton’s corruption. Yes this rubbish has been the lead today in the Washington Post in the US and the Guardian here, and was the lead item on the BBC main news. I suspect it is leading the American broadcasts also.
A little simple logic demolishes the CIA’s claims. The CIA claim they “know the individuals” involved. Yet under Obama the USA has been absolutely ruthless in its persecution of whistleblowers, and its pursuit of foreign hackers through extradition. We are supposed to believe that in the most vital instance imaginable, an attempt by a foreign power to destabilise a US election, even though the CIA knows who the individuals are, nobody is going to be arrested or extradited, or (if in Russia) made subject to yet more banking and other restrictions against Russian individuals? Plainly it stinks. The anonymous source claims of “We know who it was, it was the Russians” are beneath contempt.
As Julian Assange has made crystal clear, the leaks did not come from the Russians. As I have explained countless times, they are not hacks, they are insider leaks – there is a major difference between the two. And it should be said again and again, that if Hillary Clinton had not connived with the DNC to fix the primary schedule to disadvantage Bernie, if she had not received advance notice of live debate questions to use against Bernie, if she had not accepted massive donations to the Clinton foundation and family members in return for foreign policy influence, if she had not failed to distance herself from some very weird and troubling people, then none of this would have happened.
The continued ability of the mainstream media to claim the leaks lost Clinton the election because of “Russia”, while still never acknowledging the truths the leaks reveal, is Kafkaesque.
I had a call from a Guardian journalist this afternoon. The astonishing result was that for three hours, an article was accessible through the Guardian front page which actually included the truth among the CIA hype:
The Kremlin has rejected the hacking accusations, while the WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has previously said the DNC leaks were not linked to Russia. A second senior official cited by the Washington Post conceded that intelligence agencies did not have specific proof that the Kremlin was “directing” the hackers, who were said to be one step removed from the Russian government.
Craig Murray, the former UK ambassador to Uzbekistan, who is a close associate of Assange, called the CIA claims “bullshit”, adding: “They are absolutely making it up.”
“I know who leaked them,” Murray said. “I’ve met the person who leaked them, and they are certainly not Russian and it’s an insider. It’s a leak, not a hack; the two are different things.
“If what the CIA are saying is true, and the CIA’s statement refers to people who are known to be linked to the Russian state, they would have arrested someone if it was someone inside the United States.
“America has not been shy about arresting whistleblowers and it’s not been shy about extraditing hackers. They plainly have no knowledge whatsoever.”
But only three hours. While the article was not taken down, the home page links to it vanished and it was replaced by a ludicrous one repeating the mad CIA allegations against Russia and now claiming – incredibly – that the CIA believe the FBI is deliberately blocking the information on Russian collusion. Presumably this totally nutty theory, that Putin is somehow now controlling the FBI, is meant to answer my obvious objection that, if the CIA know who it is, why haven’t they arrested somebody. That bit of course would be the job of the FBI, who those desperate to annul the election now wish us to believe are the KGB.
It is terrible that the prime conduit for this paranoid nonsense is a once great newspaper, the Washington Post, which far from investigating executive power, now is a sounding board for totally evidence free anonymous source briefing of utter bullshit from the executive.
In the UK, one single article sums up the total abnegation of all journalistic standards. The truly execrable Jonathan Freedland of the Guardian writes “Few credible sources doubt that Russia was behind the hacking of internal Democratic party emails, whose release by Julian Assange was timed to cause maximum pain to Hillary Clinton and pleasure for Trump.” Does he produce any evidence at all for this assertion? No, none whatsoever. What does a journalist mean by a “credible source”? Well, any journalist worth their salt in considering the credibility of a source will first consider access. Do they credibly have access to the information they claim to have?
Now both Julian Assange and I have stated definitively the leak does not come from Russia. Do we credibly have access? Yes, very obviously. Very, very few people can be said to definitely have access to the source of the leak. The people saying it is not Russia are those who do have access. After access, you consider truthfulness. Do Julian Assange and I have a reputation for truthfulness? Well in 10 years not one of the tens of thousands of documents WikiLeaks has released has had its authenticity successfully challenged. As for me, I have a reputation for inconvenient truth telling.
Contrast this to the “credible sources” Freedland relies on. What access do they have to the whistleblower? Zero. They have not the faintest idea who the whistleblower is. Otherwise they would have arrested them. What reputation do they have for truthfulness? It’s the Clinton gang and the US government, for goodness sake.
In fact, the sources any serious journalist would view as “credible” give the opposite answer to the one Freedland wants. But in what passes for Freedland’s mind, “credible” is 100% synonymous with “establishment”. When he says “credible sources” he means “establishment sources”. That is the truth of the “fake news” meme. You are not to read anything unless it is officially approved by the elite and their disgusting, crawling whores of stenographers like Freedland.
The worst thing about all this is that it is aimed at promoting further conflict with Russia. This puts everyone in danger for the sake of more profits for the arms and security industries – including of course bigger budgets for the CIA. As thankfully the four year agony of Aleppo comes swiftly to a close today, the Saudi and US armed and trained ISIS forces counter by moving to retake Palmyra. This game kills people, on a massive scale, and goes on and on.

Allow me to help you out with the English language
Non sequitur means a conclusion or statement that does not follow logically from the previous argument or statement.
All I did was to point out that in addition to Craig and Assange Barack Obama also takes a different view to that espoused by the CIA. Given that Obama is the President of the US it is surely of some interest that the Commander in Chief of US forces has a view that apparently differs from that held by one of his major intelligence agencies.
You stated that you were awaiting further evidence prior to reaching a conclusion as to whether you found Murray and Assange to be more credible than the CIA. Surely the fact that the POTUS (a man in possession of more information than you or I) comes down on the side of the recent elections being free of material Russian influence is evidence that a rational person would weigh carefully in reaching their decision on this matter.
Barack Obama’s stated view in the article to which you long was regarding whether the hacking swayed the election not as to whether it occurred or not – so using your own definition it was a non sequitur. In fact I think you will find that Craig tried to argue that the leaks did influence the result of the election but that isn’t what we were talking about.

I guess the biggest thing going on at the moment is the Syria war. The interesting thing about this is that
Russia has re-asserted a decisive role in the world, possibly for the first time in the world that emerged after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
To say that this ‘incommodes’ the US and the all its associated sympathisers and supporters is to put it very mildly indeed. I can imagine that the position is intensely frustrating to the US which certainly regards its position as unassailable-it certainly enjoys the presumption of dominance.
The point here is that the US and NATO, by far the biggest spender on arms and by far the most powerful military bloc is being frustrated by a much smaller unit.
Of course the dominance of the US/NATO is based upon the overwhelming superiority in nuclear arms but it seems that such weapons are of little use in a complex conflict such as Syria, where there are numerous factions and the position of each is very fluid and variable. Big, powerful, organisations may not have the delicate means of intervention that are required in such a complex situation and may not be able to finesse the situation to their advantage.
Without the Russian intervention Assad would certainly have fallen long ago and this would have further exposed and weakened Iran. It is difficult to avoid the sense that the Syria conflict had been long in the making and planning, and was a key element of asserting overall dominance over the ME. For this strategy to seem to fail is a major blow.
So ‘the truth’ is really not important. It is really all about the message that prevails.

No, it is based on the US government’s ability to turn the governments of the other NATO members into automatons unquestioningly carrying out the orders of the Pentagon.

But, alas, they have another agenda for their rush to judgment regarding Russian involvement. On a political level, Democrats are pushing this as a way to lay blame elsewhere for the horrible election results. If Hillary had made even a modest effort at campaigning, she would have won by a large margin, but she stayed home for six weeks, starting in August. She only met with large donors in small gatherings.
Hillary and her campaign ignored pleas for help in Pennsylvania and the Rust Belt states. Her campaign said those were safe states, and instead she spent resources in Florida and Arizona in a vain and wasted effort. No campaign has been run as badly as hers. More than 75% of her campaign ads impugned Donald Trump’s characters. She never told the country why she should be elected. Hillary had no vision for the country, and put forth none, leaving us Democrats less than excited. Even though I was, and still am, a Bernie supporter, I voted for Hillary. It was hard to do, but I gritted my teeth and did what I thought was best given the bad choices we were offered.
Now, Democrats are doing what Republicans did with Obama. Obama was supposed to have been born in Kenya, and therefore wasn’t really President. The election was hacked by Russia, so Trump isn’t really President either.
The media will not assess the facts for many reasons, but one is that this drives up readership and viewership, and makes them more money than if they just admitted that they have no proof of Russian involvement.
What accounts for her failure to campaign? Was it just playing it safe? Or are her health problems real?

All I have to say is that no one online seems willing to allow the due process of an investigation to proceed before they state their opinions about what is or is not “truth”. It comes from all sides and all perspectives. Everyone seems to latch on to that one piece of “evidence” that they find that supports their perspective, and with that they are inoculated against any other evidence that might come out that contradicts it. All I can ask right now is that everyone wait until all of the information is brought forth through an investigation. But that also means you have to have faith in governments, and no one seems willing to do that any more — as seen in how many will put their faith in a corrupt and amoral businessmen like Trump. I am truly worried about the state of our civilization.
We have a whole planet to save. We don’t need to “bring the jobs back”. We need to do the job of saving the planet. We give these people jobs, what are they going to spend their money on? This is a well-thought-out article about what to many of us is terribly obvious. That Sunday morning news pundits here in the U.S. cannot – or will not – put together what Craig has pretty logically and simply, speaks to the continued mainstream media bias against Trump and truth. Meanwhile, the story that there is REAL evidence that in the state of Georgia, voting process was hacked by the Obama administration, is receiving no air time.
I think it’s imperative that we continue to hold up a mirror up to these laughable antics by the powers that be. We have a redistricting coming up in 2020, and things like this silliness out of the CIA, seemingly earnestly intended to either further divide us or further anti-Russian sentiment (both ends empowering a top-heavy state) without any of the humor or irony you’d expect out of such an obviously ham-fisted effort, things like this need to backfire. They need to cause us to mistrust the CIA itself, to understand that their presentation of any world events, especially those centered around Russia – while Russians themselves are far from sainthood and Putin is as much a dumpster fire as the choices we ourselves were presented with at election time – is very slanted and yellow. They need to bring us together, “degenerates” and “deplorables” alike, and any other name Washington and the businesses it owns or is owned by (if such distinctions matter any more) wants to throw at us. The more they insult the intelligence of the American people and underestimate us, the more they test our patience, the longer this reality soap opera continues, the harder it will be to tell the left from the right when it’s time to draw district lines. This election, you could see where cities and rural areas were on a red-blue election map. As the right comes to understand that Trump is going to continue destroying rural America and everything they value, and as the left realize just how hawkish and bloodthirsty Clinton is and how much her heart is against civil liberties for the most at risk groups of Americans, such as immigrants, especially those that would rather not give up unpopular faiths like Islam. Just how much these two people would like to control us and impose their values on us. As Americans work together to ensure jobs and resources aren’t all swallowed up by our cities, leaving our rural people starving and dying with nothing but blind, callous sneers from the left and lies about their privilege, and that our best and brightest are judged on their merits and hearts alone and are allowed to operate at full utility without fear from sheltered incompetent mobs that wouldn’t last half an hour in their shoes daring to call them thin skinned and easily offended, sometimes immediately before retreating to safe spaces to pray on Sunday. I am not apologizing to the leftists or rightists that took offense to what I just said, because you are becoming a minority as the rest of the nation moves away from your tribalism, you being those who took offense. The rest of us are going to be an unpredictable, cooperative electorate. And everyone’s jobs in Washington will forever be in jeopardy after 2020.
It was just like reading about the UK, it is the same here if not worse, we are effectively a divided country since we voted to leave the EU, when I say divided I mean, the majority of people again our own politicians and the circus called the Lords.
We have the corporations, liberal and left parties that do not want to follow the will on the people, if, these money grabbing excuses for humans stop us leaving the UK, there will be effectively the start of a civil uprising. I wish that we could try the present administration and all who support this mess for treason and be done with it. Not one single establishment Democrat was balking when the Democratic primary was rigged in favor of the weakest candidate in party history yet here we are somehow incredulous at the fact that Hillary Clinton got out performed by a glorified reality television show host in front of the global population. This whole mess is an elaborate and embarrassing attempt by a dying political party to preserve their own legacy.
I am not a journalist, politician or any type of political animal, yet I read, watch and listen to various people propagating lies that are so obvious it’s incredulous, America is falling in on itself thanks to the Clinton crime family, OBAMA is desperately trying to annul the presidential election probably for a number of reasons some personal, getting the CIA to continually lie about the Russians, recounts in States and rags like the Washington Post, it’s the same in the UK, democracy takes second seat to money and power, the EU is a crumbling edifice of corruption, yet the pigs don’t want to leave the trough, as for ISIS retaking Aleppo, it is very clear that they are being aided by the US, all in all I feel in my gut that the west led by Obama, the Clintons and the UK want a third world war, reason, to reduce the whole world population to a manageable level.

Actually, there a number of credible people with expertise in computer security such as Jeffrey Carr who have thoroughly debunked the “Russia hack” theory. While it is not impossible that Russia state agencies were ultimately behind the hacks (based on the circumstantial evidence and ignoring Craig’s statement that he knows the leaker for the sake of argument), there is ZERO evidence that the Russian state was behind the hacks and even ZERO evidence that it was Russians at all. As one simple alternative, it could have been Ukrainians trying to frame Russia for the hacks (if they were hacks.)
When it comes to intelligence operations or hacking incidents, Occam’s Razor – the notion that the simplest answer is usually correct – does not apply. There is too much misdirection, obfuscation and manipulation involved to be able to attribute anything to anyone, absent “off-line” intelligence acquired by law enforcement or intelligence methods that pin-point the persons involved.
The only hacking case where this allegedly was done was the identification by Mandiant of specific People’s Liberation Army personnel in China involved with various hacks in the US. One might also include the Sony case, IF you believe the NSA (which has a history of lying) that they directly observed North Korean hackers in Sony’s systems. (The jury is still out whether there were other hackers not related to North Korea who were also in Sony’s systems.)
