Just Who’s Pulling the Strings? 1205

March 4 2018 Sergei and Yulia Skripal are attacked with a nerve agent in Salisbury

March 6 2018 Boris Johnson blames Russia and calls Russia “a malign force”

March 7 2018 Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman of Saudi Arabia arrives in London for an official visit

March 13 2018 Valeri Gerasimov, Russian Chief of General Staff, states that Russia has intelligence a fake chemical attack is planned against civilians in Syria as a pretext for US bombing of Damascus, and that Russia will respond militarily.

March 19 2018 Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman of Saudi Arabia arrives in Washington for an official visit

April 8 2018 Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman of Saudi Arabia arrives in Paris for an official visit

April 8 2018 Saudi funded jihadist groups Jaysh al Islam and Tahrir al-Sham and UK funded jihadist “rescue group” The White Helmets claim a chemical weapons attack occurred in their enclave of Douma the previous day – just before its agreed handover to the Syrian army – and blame the Syrian government.

April 11 2018 Saudi Arabia pledges support for attack on Syria

April 14 2018 US/UK/French attack on Syria begins.

I have always denied the UK’s claim that only Russia had a motive to attack the Skripals. To denigrate Russia internationally by a false flag attack pinning the blame on Russia, always seemed to me more likely than for the Russians to do that to themselves. And from the start I pointed to the conflict in Syria as a likely motive. That puts Saudi Arabia (and its client jihadists), Saudi Arabia’s close ally Israel, the UK and the USA all in the frame in having a powerful motive in inculcating anti-Russian sentiment prior to planned conflict with Russia in Syria. Any of them could have attacked the Skripals.

Today, Theresa May is claiming -astonishingly – that the UK attack on Syria is “to deter chemical weapons attacks in Syria and the UK”. I don’t think the motive for a Skripal false flag could be more starkly demonstrated.

We do not yet know how many children and other civilians have died so far in what the media always pretend are magically “pinpoint” attacks on Syria. Denying the “collateral damage” is part of the neo-con playbook. The danger is that they will not stop but continue to push, testing how far they can go in weakening Syrian government forces to promote their jihadist allies on the ground, before they spark a real Russian reaction. That way madness lies.

It is also worth noting that the most ardent supporters of this military action, outside Saudi Arabia and Israel, are the Blairites in the UK and the Clinton Democrats in the USA. The self-described “centrists” are actually the unhinged extremists in today’s politics.

This attack on Syria is, beyond doubt, a huge success for the machinations of Mohammed Bin Salman. Please do read my post of 8 March which sets out the background to his agenda, and I believe is essential to why we find our nations in military action again today. Despite the fact the vast majority of the people do not want this.

Should include the actions by Putin, Erdogan, the Israelis and the US covert government, and cut back on what the Saudis contributed.

Google translation of French lies for attack-

    https://translate.google.co.uk/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.defense.gouv.fr%2Fcontent%2Fdownload%2F528742%2F9123389%2Ffile%2F180414%2520-%2520Syrie%2520-%2520Synth%25C3%25A8se%2520-%2520Les%2520faits.pdf&edit-text=

“This document consists of technical analyzes of open source information and declassified information obtained by the French services. ”

Basically social media posted by WH, SAMS and other terrorist groups.

    • Hatuey

So the French had no evidence whatsoever.

And their argument in this document that it made sense for Syria to use chemical weapons here to defeat Jaish al-Islam (the army of Islam), a group directly descended from al queda, known to have conducted a bunch of false flag operations with video makers and even actors and actresses, funded and armed by the Saudi regime, is not only spurious but illogical.

Jaish al-Islam took 4000 innocent women and children hostage last year, put them in cages on the roofs of buildings as human shields, videos and photographs of this are all over the Internet, and that is why they are one of the few remaining “rebel” groups left standing.

Assad as the French document points out was willed to negotiate a settlement with armed resistance groups and in the vast majority of cases had success. Not with the Jaish al-Islam, though, who were emboldened by increased financial support from Saudi Arabia and their human shield which, to be fair, had probably been a success in terms of deterring a Syrian military attack.

The French argument can easily be spun around to provide a more plausible explanation of what happened. The gas attack was feigned by the desperate abducters of innocents, jaish al-Islam, who knew that all was lost in terms of their armed struggle. They resorted to type and either gassed or faked a gas attack.

Let’s not pretend anyone could have been fooled by any of this, either way. The army of Islam is basically al-Qaeda, name changed to ISIS for political convenience (after 2001, what tax paying American would want to fund and arm terrorists like this?), and their stated goal is to create an Islamic State in Syria.

  • Republicofscotland

Who’s pulling the strings? Well follow the money as they say, Craig intimated to us that the Saudi’s have been very busy visiting allies recently.

I’m sure the Saudi elite would finance such strikes in Syria. Shia hatred runs deep in Riyadh.

  • Don't Bomb Syria

From source in Damascus: both munitions and chemical weapons factory found in East Ghouta, and site of alleged chemical weapons attack are intact and were not damaged at all so investigation can go ahead. ISIS took opportunity to advance on the Palestine Refugee Camp at Yarmouk, south of Damascus, a mere 30 minute drive from the Duma site. The attack distracted the Syrian Army’s intention to attack ISIS and drive them out of Yarmouk.

Overwhelming public opposition, clear legal impediments. But they go ahead anyway. Western liberal democracy shining its light to the world.

I have talked to so many people during the last weeks, about football, the canaries, Local police and their inability/secrecy over the grooming in Norfolk, why Norfolk will be flooded via the Hemsby gap,etc.etc. and in every conversation the Government and their idiocy eventually featured, not one person agrees with what we are doing in Salisbury or Syria.

Should the whole cabinet be arrested for treason?

Death and mega destruction in Iraq based on lies.
Death and mega destruction in Libya based on lies.
Millions of displaced and dispossessed people.
Bombing of Syria in 2017 without foundation or evidence.
Bombing of Syria in 2018 without foundation or evidence.
No approval from UN, no immediate threat.
    No approval from Parliament.
    No approval from Congress.
No approval in the French Assembly.
Flagrant disregard for International Law and the electoral public.
These war criminals are out of control and it needs to stop.

Syria’s UN envoy, Bashar Jaafari, accused the US, UK, and France of blatantly violating the UN Charter. “I would clarify here that the history of these three states is built on using lies and fabricated stories to wage wars in order to occupy states, seize their resources, and change governments in them by force,”

This shameful, vile behaviour, devoid of all morals, needs to stop. They need to be brought to account. But how?

    • Jack

WOuld love a coaltion outside the west to kick out every us, uk, french diplomat, I would love that the non western states could mobilize and make use of strong sanctions themselves.
Other than that, these days show how important alternative/blogs/media is, they are the only one condemning and critically judge this, additional to that. Create blogs, write opion pieces to newspapers etc that is the first step, to give people information about whats going on.

    • Republicofscotland

      “But how?”

How indeed, we elect our governments but very rarely do we hold them to account. The ballot box is our only form of recourse.

      • Pyotr Grozny

I am planning to vote Labour on May 3rd for the first time in my life to send a message. Question is, how far are Labour going to overtly turn the council elections into a verdict on these bombings. If they do go that route I might even end up assisting their campaign.

        • Jack

Corbyn couldnt even condemn the action as “illegal”. Do not vote Tories nor Labour.

          • Crackerjack

Corbyn has been consistently the only Political Leader to stick his head above the parapet and question the lunacy of the last couple of months

          • Jo Dominich

To be fair, Corbyn is not in power. However, he is beginning to get angry so I think he will step up to the mark on Monday when Parliament reconvenes.

        • Aslangeo

I am also planning to vote labour for the second time ever. The previous time was for a council where a colleague of mine who’s politics I disagreed with but personally respect stood as a candidate I will never vote conservative again

      • BarrieJ

Frankly it’s almost impossible to believe the Tories are legally elected now.
They’ve been intimate bedfellows of MI5 and MI6 since before WW1 as MI5’s own official history confirms but excuses it on the basis that “they all went to the same schools”. Then there’s Peter Wright’s ‘Spycatcher’…
Our security services have blotted their copy books time and time again and every occasion they’re exposed it’s almost always in support of the establishment.
Do we honestly believe that such a corrupt bunch of career criminals wouldn’t stoop to ballot rigging?
Of course they would, without a second’s compunction.

        • Rhys Jaggar

It will be subtle, just enough to swing it, nothing blatant. FPTP is very good that way, one reason why they wish to keep it.

The Brits & French believe they have historic intelligence to offer as the two states that did most to create the status quo in the Levant. They do really consider themselves to experts in Arabology.
      Bring back Al Orens…..

    • Doghouse

The trouble is, the supposed power of the vote is illusory, it doesn’t change a damned thing.
      Iraq – Blair – Labour
      Libya – Cameron – Conservative
      Syria – May – Conservative
      Iraq – Bush – Rep
Libya – Obomber (Nobel Peace Prize) – Dem
Syria – Trump (Gonna drain the swamp) – Rep

Six different leaders, four political parties, one goal.
The agenda of death, destruction and misery just continues. It truly does break my heart.

      • John Harrington

That is why Corbyn is so different. He is the only one who stands against all this. He knows how difficult it is to speak against these interventions, since, as we have seen so clearly, all the mainstream media are against that and will ridicule and undermine him. He has shown great courage and principle to stand by his insistence that we should seek evidence and search for a negotiated settlement. It is crucial that all of us who can see the real truth here stand behind him. Vote Labour for Corbyn!

    Re: https://www.rt.com/news/424132-us-russia-syria-strikes/

The US warned Russia ahead of the overnight strikes on Syria, US Ambassador to Russia Jon Huntsman said, adding that the military action was not “about the conflict between superpowers.”

“Before we took the action, the United States communicated with the Russian Federation to reduce the danger of any Russian or civilian casualties,” Huntsman said, claiming that “all the targets were linked with the Assad regime’s illegal chemical weapons program.”

Doesn’t that gravely contradict what May said, about ‘either Syria or Salisbury’ (paraphrasing)?
Salisbury was attributed to Russia. Therefore, the attack at Syria was also an attack aimed at Russia, whether or not symbolic. This contradicts the assertion by the ambassador that the attack was not “about the conflict between superpowers.”

    • msj

He indicated that Moscow did not even need to respond militarily because the US strike was so much of a failure that it was “the sound of a closing door by the Americans who are leaving Syria”.

“Soon, you will read in the Western press that the West handed over Syria to Putin. And that it cannot do anything against Assad and got off with symbolic strikes for saving its face.”

  • Emily

    Any clever people on here?
    I have RT on.
I am just watching a spokesman for the USA military talking about the attack.
According to him all missiles hit their designated targets.
The Syrians brought down none – then presumably.
One building – pictured has been reduced pretty much to up standing rubble.
But. if I heard correctly – and please tell me if I haven’t – it took 57 missiles to reduce it to the present state.
    57 missiles.?
Two other targets were hit also requiring multiple numbers of missiles.
I have always understood that these missiles were capable of having fairly good destructive powers but I am just an ordinary unenlightened person about such matters.
Can someone confirm the 57 number did I hear that? and explain to me the logistics of the requirement of that quantity.
Some .2 of a billion worth of technology to rubbish 3 buildings.
Half ton warheads I think I heard and 57 of them….
Old bombs would have been that effective at a fraction of the price.
Or did the Syrians bring down large numbers of the missiles and the US is lying?????
And if all hit their designated targets……why only 3.

    • bj

      That’s just the point.
Raytheon would like you to be not too verbal about it, otherwise their million-dollar contracts would be endangered.

I don’t do Facebook and it won’t let me look.
Could you please post the text – if its feasible.
        Thank you

        • SD

          copy paste from that link:

This is an initial post-battle assessment, it is as accurate as we can make it however subject to change as more of the “Fog of war” clears.
~100+ Long-range cruise missiles were fired at targets in Syria, most of the intended targets were in Damascus countryside and one in Homs’ countryside.
From the ~100 missiles less than 10 reached any of their targets, our numbers suggest 7; one hit a civilian neighborhood in Damascus where some office buildings of the Syrian Military were located, also a warehouse in Damascus countryside was hit, and an ex-Syrian military site that was abandoned over 5 years ago was also hit.
In Homs, the missile was not destroyed mid-air but was jammed and it did not reach its target, it landed 10km from its intended target according to our intel (which is again subject to change to a certain extent)
Furthermore, at least 2 small sized drones were destroyed as they attempted to enter and assess the aftermath of the US strike.
We all await the official statement but this is as close as it gets to the facts, although we are not an official page but who follow us for years know how much we are very confident of our sources
Finally, the interception, and all the actions were carried by the Syrian Air Defenses; with all do respect, appreciation and acknowledgment of the Syrian Allies; we are not denying their efforts, and their contributions to Syria’s security and stability, we are simply sharing facts.

    • JK

The Americans are obviously lying. Can you imagine them informing their President only 30% of the missiles hit? It’s not as if he can tell the difference. Just yesterday an FBI oversight report accused Andrew McCabe of lying to and manipulating James Comey – and their President quickly tweeted that the report proves that Comey controls McCabe and McCabe and Comey are one and the same. A public display of cluelessness.

  • Barden Gridge

Le Figaro proudly proclaiming in a behind-the-paywall piece that last night’s attack marked the first combat use of a French ship-launched cruise missile and that this means that
“France has now joined the group of states able to strike an adversary at a distance”
Seems to be full of Boy’s Own stuff about range and speed:
    http://www.lefigaro.fr/international/2018/04/14/01003-20180414ARTFIG00045-frappes-en-syrie-la-france-a-tire-son-premier-missile-de-croisiere-naval.php

More like an arms fair live firing demonstration than a military operation.

I stayed up for a couple of hours after the attack started.
One hour in, I looked at the three main French rolling news channels.
None of them had live coverage. All were just showing recorded news, including the bulletins on the hour, in which the lead story was about some judicial ruling on Johnny Halliday’s will.
The only reference to the attack on all three channels was a small banner at the bottom of the screen.
Nothing on the Elysée or French defence minstry twitter at that time either. Quite unbelievable.

14 April: Israel closes air space over Golan Heights after Western strike in Syria
        by Itay Blumenthal
Israel closed the air space over the Golan Heights east of the Jordan River on Saturday morning in the wake of the Western strike in Syria.
Airlines were told that they were not allowed to fly in the area at altitudes surpassing 5,000 feet.
The air space will remain closed until the end of April.

The new descriptive term for terrorist attacks like this should be “Guernica”. “The Us and its satrapies committed a Guernica today on the people of Syria.”

    • Rod

‘France has now joined the group of States able to strike an adversary at a distance’ – well they’ve had that facility since the Falklands war when they sold their super entendard jets armed with their exocet missiles to Argentina who then used them against the British task force. How far removed can one get ? Funny old world.

      • PhatBastard

Don’t forget the General Belgrano was actually the USS Phoenix that the USA sold to Argentina!

  • Gideon Blackmarsh

An extended Any Answers is playing currently on BBC Radio 2 and allowing an even balance of opinion. No-one critical of May’s action is being talked over. I’m hopeful that we have finally reached the point where the media is no longer willing to be complicit in the government’s deception and warmongering.

    • Basil Fawlty

I admire your optimism – the mainstream media always actively facilitate these illegal attacks.

    • Barden Gridge

I wouldn’t read too much into that. They know perfectly well that the vast majority was against this and I would think this is a token show of balance to allow people to let off steam.

      • bj

None of the above. They need ratings, that’s how they live. It’s the concept of the wind sock.

        • Ultraviolet

          That’s a good point.

I have not gone onto the BBC News or Guardian websites for several days now, because I am not interested in whatever lies they have for us now. Usually I would go on each several times a day.

If thousands of other people have been reacting in the same way, it will be noticed.

          • Jo Dominich

Ultraviolet, very wise. I would just say how disappointed I am in the Guardian, I thought they were much much better than that. However, while I am here can I heartily recommend Russia Today UK and Al Jazeera – you might be surprised, it is far more impartial, true and unbiased than you think they are. They are currently my go to places for news on this where I get far more common sense and truth than I do in our mainstream media.

    • Rubber Duck

John Pienaar on Radio 4 this morning was doing all he could to fill the gaping holes in Theresa may’s statements. Very much the state broadcaster. Dissenting comment is to be scorned. If you’re not with the media, you’re against the government

      • Gideon Blackmarsh

No, I didn’t catch Any Questions and only caught the last half hour or so of Any Answers. I’m not a regular listener either, so I can’t say how much what I heard today differed from the norm for the programme. It did strike me, though, as being in stark contrast to almost everything I’ve heard over the past few weeks where presenters have been completely biased in favour of the government and talked down (and over) anyone trying to point out the gaping holes and contradictions in the official line.

I don’t consider myself an optimist, quite the opposite, but it does look like the powers that be have loosened their tight grip on the media now that they have achieved the strikes against Syria that they so desperately wanted.

  • Olaf S

    Prediction.
There will be more attacks. Many more, with increasing frequency. They have felt the taste of it. They will suddenly realize that this is a safe way to remove Assad. From a safe distance, so to speak, and with all the time in the world (and vast stocks of old rockets, soon becoming too old to do reliable service anyway.).

In the beginning there will be attempts of justification before each attack, then everybody will get used. Assad has learned from Libya, and is well dug in. There will not be many whole buildings left in Damascus at the end, if any.
Sad to think about, but justice must be done. The bright side: Not all Syrians will have to die, some may have success and become refugees in foreign countries, like the 6 million lucky guys already.

Thinking of the hardship the dear coalition leaders will have to endure, reading all kind of reports about collateral damage, one gets humble. I have already written to my member of Norwegian Stortinget (parliament) and asked him to nominate T.May for the Nobel Peace Price for her immense effort in this matter, and as an encouragement.

    • Blissex

«There will be more attacks. Many more, with increasing frequency.»

“The Guardian” foreign editor is surely calling for that:

      https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/apr/09/douma-syria-regime-bashar-al-assad-murder-civilians

«It’s time for Britain and its allies to take concerted, sustained military action to curb Bashar al-Assad’s ability to murder Syria’s citizens at will.»
«Trump should know better now. One feel-good bomb-fest does not a strategy make.»

I guess the idea is to have many, many more “feel-good bomb-fests”…

    • Ultraviolet

I don’t think there will be more attacks.

My reason for that is that I think they know full well that Putin let them off very lightly, and even gave them a face-saving exit this time, but that any future shenanigans will be met with a full power response.

I do also wonder whether the next stage in this game is for Russia to humiliate the west. I am reading on the Independent and Moon of Alabama rumours that the Salisbury chemical was identified by a Swiss OPCW laboratory as not a novichok but as something developed by the US and UK and easily available from many places. That in itself ought to be enough to destroy the May Government. And if the OPCW confirms that no chemical weapons were used in Douma, there will be zero prospect of the West ever getting away with launching such strikes again.

In addition, that should also see the mainstream media utterly humiliated to the extent that most of them go out of business in short order.

    • SD

I think they would like more attacks but they know they are pushing luck with Russians.

It’s on the creeping agenda of the English Fascists to outlaw Scottish nationalism. The BBC’s Clare Balding and Steve Cram going out their way to prevent mention of Scotland in the Winter Olympics coverage was a straw in the wind. The power grab from Holyrood is a main plank in the project.

French intelligence seems to have a magical ability to confirm the presence of Syrian helicopters each and every time. On every possible occasion there is an allegation of a chemical weapons attack, the French pull one or two trick helicopters out of the hat. The British in their turn are able to pick conversations from anywhere in Syria, through their awesome listening post in Cyprus. Apart from the two we can expect further confirmation from American satellites as interpreted by some interns. What will we do without such formidable talent?

Craig – right now, this is the most important political blog in the UK. Thank you for joining the dots for us.

  • Thorvid

Well the Pentagon post action press conference says it all really. I took these points:-

    * OPCW is irreverent, and the Russians and Syrians are blocking access anyway….
    * It’s irresponsible to deploy air defence systems to defend yourself when attacked by a foreign power.
    * We’ve only degraded the CW capability, thus allowing the possibility of future false flag operations.
    * Reports of any of allied missiles being shot down, are absolutely false.
    * They all get very uncomfortable when any one mentions actual facts and the possibility of presenting there so called ‘evidence’.
    * The facts are what we tell you, there is no other valid point of view

Additionally the MSM here in the UK are starting to complain about the limited nature of the strikes, and questioning Secretary of Defence Matis’s role in the limiting of the strikes.

  • Basil Fawlty

This current incident merely underlines what I think our politicians have realised for a long time – the vast majority of their people are asleep and have long since given up their (metaphorical) pitchforks for smart phones. As a result, they know they can pretty much get away with anything they like – safe in the knowledge that the media won’t call them out and their heads won’t end up on spikes. It’s tough on the few of us who know what they are up to, but hey-ho.

Escalation of dangerously irresponsible behaviour of governments is going on. Who can stop that? Everybody who knows something on chemistry knows that all those claims about chemical weapons are fake news with purpose to introduce military action. Massive civil disobedience and protests should clearly demonstrate what citizens think about their dangerous governments.

Lavrov said a Swiss lab identified the Salisbury toxin as “BZ” [1], looking at signs and symptoms [2] they are more consistent with what was described (recall: one of the witnesses described Skripal-father as pointing at random objects in the air) and delayed onset. Incidently, vectors of toxicity of BZ are through (a) aerosol, (b) dermis, and (c) GI-tract (perhaps why Zizzi is quarantined?) [3].

Sergei Skripal, the former Russian double agent, and his daughter Yulia were poisoned with an incapacitating toxin known as 3-Quinuclidinyl benzilate or BZ, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said, citing the results of the examination conducted by a Swiss chemical lab that worked with the samples that London handed over to the Organisation for the Prohibition of the Chemical Weapons.

I’m confused. If this was the chemical identified, was this also a secret Porton Down finding, confirmed by the OPCW? Was Aitkenhead’s assertion of “Novichok” or from that class of agents, or something closely related (I paraphrase) referring perhaps to some other trace entirely–say found on a doorknob but not in the blood tests?

I see no connection between A-231 / 234 or some related toxic chemical and this new BZ thingy…

So another non-event. It appears that all the Tripartite Aggression achieved was to bomb a couple of deserted bases, one of them supposedly bombed by Israel before, and abandoned. Allegedly the target according to the French and TM were chemical weapon factories so this was to degrade the ability of the SG to produce more CW. However due care was taken that the bombing did not lead to dissemination of poisonous gases and kill innocent civilians! Can you believe such nonsense?
And if the intelligence could point these sites, wouldn’t the first port of call be the OPCW? The OPCW should now start taking measures to prevent countries like UK from withholding information, such as they say they have, about novichok stocks in Russia and whatever in Syria in order to justify unilateral action. If all this is true, the OPCW has been sidestepped and this is a very dangerous precedent.

One of those buildings took 57 missiles according the the US General and its still partially standing.
They don’t make missiles like they used to – thats for sure.
Bit like new nerve agent – that no longer kills.

By the logic of America, Britain and France, Russia should have the right to destroy Porton Down because they have evidence that a Russian was attacked by a chemical weapon from that chemical weapon facility. They don’t need to show anyone that evidence, they can just go right ahead and do it!
And I love all the hypocritical nonsense about how their bombing of Syria is some kind of humanitarian gesture, whilst they support the Saudi’s murderous actions in Yemen.
Russia will have to respond militarily at some point, or the warmongers will keep pushing and provoking.

    • IM

Except that nobody in their right mind would bomb chemical storage/production facility. *THAT* is how you know that the “chemical weapons facilities” bombings that were just carried out by the three horsemen are utter BS- it’s like saying: “we knew where they kept nuclear warheads so we launched a whole bunch of tomahawks at those”

  • quasi_verbatim

We have known all along that Novichok was a red herring and FM Lavrov has now confirmed that the Salisbury toxin was BZ, of which the US/UK have oodles.

The SOF (Salisbury Occupying Force) should be immediately issued with BullZhit meters.

A quick glance at MidEast press suggests tired resignation at this aggression by the righteous trio. The feeling that this will unleash more ‘jihadism’ is notable.
Syria has been given a patriotic shot in the arm. Certainly no sign of ‘surrender’.
Literally and figuratively the west may have blown it.
I do wonder how long the new Sa3udi régime will be able to keep dissidents in check.

    • SA

I think the key to what happens next is the reaction in the ‘Arab Street’, especially in Egypt and the slightly less conservative countries. No signs yet of any reactions though.

      • Abulhaq

There are deep divisions among Muslims regarding this. Turkey’s Erdoğan a Sınnı, who did not offer Turkish bases for the assault, has called this appropriate.
Iran naturally takes a different view. Between the two is the street. It doesn’t take much to inflame. A rousing sermon at Friday prayers could be the spark.

If the OPCW were to declare that no chemical weapon attack had taken place in Douma, that would mean that we would have three world leaders who had demonstrably just bombed a country for no reason at all.

    • Emily

Even with this reason – they still didn’t have any right to bomb it.
      Not under international law.
      Not under the UN charter.
It is still a war crime, I would have thought.
